Children and Young Workers Code of Practice 2006 and Child Employment Regulation 2006 effective from 1 July 2006. The new laws enhance protection for school-aged children.
From 1 July 2006 workers must hold a new ‘B’ class licence to remove 10 square metres or more of bonded asbestos.

Wages or salaries prescribed by Queensland awards for full-time adult employees increase by $19.40 per week following a decision by the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission.

Child Employment Amendment Regulation (No.1) 2006 is effective from 1January 2007. This regulation covers the employment of children in the entertainment industry.
