Dell a.c. adaptors sold with Dell notebooks

Electrical product safety recall

Identification

Dell C series a.c. power adaptors sold with Dell notebook computers. Not all adaptors sold during the period are affected, only those manufactured by Delta Electronics Inc. The words DELL and either PIN 9364U, PIN 7832D or PIN 4983D are printed on the back of the adaptors. These adaptors were also sold separately, including in response to service calls and shipped to customers between September 1998 and February 2002.

Latitude CP, CPi, CPiA, CPtC, CPiR, CPxH, CPtV, CS, CSx, CPxJ, CPtS, C500, C510, C540, C600, C610, C800, C805, C810, V700, C-Dock, C-Port. Inspiron 2500, 2600, 2650, 3700, 3800, 4000, 4100, 4150, 5000, 5000e, 7500, 7550, 8000, 8100 advanced port replicator, docking station, Precision M40.

Safety issue

There have been instances when the affected adaptor overheated, posing a risk of fire and electric shock from the exposed wires.

Action required

Dell will contact all known customers by letter or telephone. Dell will offer replacement adaptors.
