As an importer of electrical equipment
Section 33 of the Electrical Safety Act 2002 (PDF, 788 KB) states that if you are an importer of electrical equipment you must ensure:
- your imported goods are electrically safe.
This means:
- the design is electrically safe; and
- equipment has been tested and examined to ensure electrical safety.
You must also comply with any electrical safety notifications issued by the chief executive (Department of Justice and Attorney-General) that apply to you.
