Electrical work licence/permit (other than apprentice)
An electrical work training permit allows a person to undertake training and gain the experience necessary to meet the eligibility requirements for an electrical work licence.
Permit holders may be required to complete a structured, on-the-job training program coordinated by a supervising registered training organisation.
It is issued for one year, unless cancelled sooner.
You need to complete the application for electrical work licence (other than apprentice) (PDF, 163KB) if you:
- did not complete an apprenticeship, or
- want an electrical work training permit, or
- want some additional classes (endorsements) included on your current Queensland electrical work licence
It is illegal to perform electrical work without a licence or permit in Queensland.
Electrical apprentices, trainees or students of electrical work supervised by teaching staff do not need to hold a permit while training.
Take care in completing the form. Read the guidelines and provide all the information required. Incomplete or incorrect applications may be considered withdrawn. The Department of Justice and Attorney-General will retain some of the application fee to offset administrative costs.
