Skills maintenance courses
When it is time to renew your licence, you will need to prove that you have maintained current skills and knowledge in three areas:
- electrical safety legislation;
- risk management; and
- testing.
Only skills maintenance undertaken during the previous two years will be recognised as evidence of continued competence in the relevant trade area.
You can undertake skills maintenance by:
- studying a course provided by a registered training organisation(s)
- completing an online self-paced skills maintenance assessment, which is available for all licences.
You must keep your rescue and resuscitation skills current. You may need them to save a life. You need to prove you are competent in resuscitation of a person who has stopped breathing, or is unconscious, because of electric shock.
Electrical line workers must also be trained, and competent, in carrying out pole-top or transmission tower rescue and resuscitation.
