Changes to occupational licensing
Transition to a Vocational Education and Training system
Learning and assessments for certificates to work in prescribed occupations are moving to a Vocational Education and Training (VET) system:
- From 1 January 2006 learning and assessment for loadshifting work can be provided by either accredited providers or registered training organisations. Learning and assessment for self erecting tower cranes is provided by registered training organisations.
- From 1 July 2006 learning and assessment for cranes and hoists, rigging, dogging, scaffolding, and pressure equipment can be provided by either accredited providers or registered training organisations.
- From 1 July 2007 only registered training organisations with be authorised to provide learning and assessment for all prescribed occupations.

Occupational licensing hotline
During an investigation conducted by the then Department of Industrial Relations it was found that some occupational licences were issued inappropriately by a former accredited assessor in the Gladstone-Rockhampton area.
Employers, unions, licence holders and accredited assessors are encouraged to contact the department if they have any questions or concerns on 1300 369 915.
Cancelled certificates
As investigations into the issuing of occupational licences continues details of those certificates cancelled are made available. The details are updated weekly, listing licence types, licence codes, and cancelled certificate numbers.
