Industrial agreements
An industrial agreement was previously negotiated between industrial organisations of employees (unions) and industrial organisations or associations of employers, groups of employers, or individual employers.
Industrial agreements though in force under the previous Industrial Relations Act 1990, continue to be in force through the Industrial Relations Act 1999 (PDF, 1.9 MB).
They continue to have effect until a party retires from the agreement or it is terminated, but the term of the agreement cannot be extended.
For further clarification on an existing industrial agreement which may still apply to you, please contact Wageline information service 1300 369 945.
