Pastoral Workers' Accommodation Act 1980
The Pastoral Workers' Accommodation Act 1980 (PDF, 345 KB) provides for the accommodation of workers employed in pastoral work.
Pastoral work includes anyone who works with
- the management, rearing or grazing of horses, cattle or sheep on premises other than dairy farms
- the shearing or crutching of sheep
- the scouring, sorting or pressing of wool
- work declared under a regulation to be pastoral work
Under this Act if an employer must provide accommodation for a worker, it must be provided free to the worker unless the worker is on an award which stipulates otherwise.
