Labour force utilisation in Queensland with special reference to indigenous and non-English speaking and overseas born backgrounds
A briefing paper
By international standards, Queensland has a high level of labour force utilisation under a number of indicators; employment/population ratios, participation, average hours worked and unemployment rates. But even in tight labour markets some groups do less well than others due to factors such as below average education, health, geographical location or disadvantage.
This research looks at two groups in the labour market; those from non-English speaking backgrounds (NESB) and Indigenous Australians.
