Report on working time arrangements in Queensland
Subject
This report details the changes in hours worked, working time related to enterprise agreements and includes a case study of extended hours regime in mining.
Purpose
The purpose of this report is to draw comparisons with Queensland’s working time arrangements and the national equivalent.

Outcomes
The outcomes of this report highlight the emergence of new standard working time arrangements:
- standard hours (i.e. between 35 and 44 hours per week)
- part-time hours (i.e. less then 35 hours per week)
- extended hours (i.e. more then 44 hours per week)
These are closely linked to forms of employment:
- standard hours are prevalent amongst ‘permanent’ employees
- part-time hours are prevalent amongst casual employees
- extended hours are prevalent amongst employers, the self-employed and managers
