Industrial disputes
An industrial dispute refers to any disagreement in industrial relations which may be in the form of a strike and or other forms of industrial action between employers and employees.
If either an employer or employees find themselves in such a situation, both must give notice in writing of the dispute to the Registrar of the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission (QIRC).
The Commission can exercise its powers to:
- give directions
- stop the dispute or
- mediate by request from the parties or if the Commission decides it is in the public interest to do so
Further information on industrial disputes is available by contacting the QIRC on (07) 3227 8060.
