Industrial agreements
An industrial agreement existed under the previous industrial relations legislation. It was made between unions and employers (or employer groups). An industrial agreement in force immediately before the Industrial Relations Act 1999 (PDF, 1.9 MB) continues to have effect until a party retires from it or it is terminated. The terms cannot be extended.
On 30 June 2004 a Full Bench of the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission handed down its decision declaring Industrial Agreements obsolete and for the parties of operating Industrial Agreements to have their provisions accommodated within other industrial instruments.
