Academic research on new laws

A research paper (PDF, 305 KB) released by the deparment provides details of Queensland's jurisdiction under the new Industrial Relations system.

University of Queensland academic John Mangan has reported on potential impacts of the new laws in his report Shifting Industrial Relations Jurisdiction from the Queensland Government to the Commonwealth Government: Some Potential Implications (PDF, 220 KB) .

The Department of Justice and Attorney-General , in conjunction with Professor John Mangan, recently completed a paper on the impact of Federal industrial relations proposals. This discusses currently available data across OECD nations linking labour market deregulation and economic and social performance. This is in response to the Federal government claims that deregulation of the labour market will improve productivity, boost employment, raise wages and create a wealth effect.

A further 17 of Australia's leading academic researchers in the field of industrial relations and labour market issues have released a series of papers analysing the details of the new laws and the likely effects of these changes (non-Queensland Government link).
