New owners

When a business changes hands and the new employer continues to employ the existing staff, the service with the previous employer may transfer over.

If such a ‘transferred’ employee is later dismissed, the new employer may have to give notice for the total period of service that the employee had with both employers.

Contact the Department’s Wageline information service 1300 369 945 to find out more about your requirements when taking over an existing business .
