Summary

Murray Raymond Kneeves, director of Talltower Pty Ltd, a company that was an employer under the Industrial Relations Act 1999 (PDF, 1.9 MB), was prosecuted for an offence by the company of failing to pay wages payable under the Transport, Distribution and Courier Industry Award – Southern Division 2003 to an employee when at the time of the offence he was an executive officer of the company. The employee was employed as a truck driver and was under paid from 25 January 2002 to 2 June 2005. Kneeves was convicted but no fine was imposed nor was the conviction recorded. However, he was ordered to pay wages of $34,083.51 to the employee.

Note: No default order was made but on appeal by the department to the President of the Queensland Industrial Court ordered that the unpaid wages be paid within 9 months of 12 October 2007 in default 6 months imprisonment.
