Worker safety on or near public roads national campaign 2011

This campaign aims to increase industry awareness of the specific risks for those working on or near public roads.

The campaign has been developed in response to an increase in the number of workers that have died or suffered serious injuries from being struck by motor vehicles or moving plant while working on or near public roads to perform construction or roadwork activities.

National regulatory bodies will measure compliance with workplace health and safety legislation that relates to the safety of workers on or near public roads.

The campaign includes:

Phase 1: Education (March 2011)
The education phase included a number of information sessions to increase industry awareness of the risks associated with worker safety, specifically those working on or near public roads.

Information sessions
Workplace Health and Safety Queensland, in conjunction with Transport and Main Roads, provided free information sessions throughout Queensland, as part of the education phase for the national campaign.
