Manufacturing Industry Action Plan
The manufacturing industry action plan was released on 5 March 2008 to support the second stage of the Queensland Workplace Health and Safety Strategy 2004-12, which aims to reduce the incidence of work-related injuries by 40 per cent and fatalities by 20 per cent.
Industry specific initiatives in this action plan include:
- providing specific industry alerts using real incidents in the metal products, meat processing, machinery and equipment manufacturing sectors of the industry
- creating benchmarks for performance across the manufacturing industry by giving manufacturing businesses the data they can use to compare their own workplace health and safety performance to companies of similar size
- investigating the feasibility of developing a health and safety induction program for all people who work in manufacturing.
