Heat stress
People who work in the sport and recreation industry, especially outdoor activities, are at risk of heat stress during the summer.
Ways to control hazards
- Wear a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen when working outside.
- If possible, install a roof or shade sail.
- Wear cool clothing and take frequent breaks in a cool area.
- Drink plenty of water.
- Where possible, maintain a comfortable temperature using ventilation, extraction or air conditioning.
- Ensure workers are educated about the risks of heat stress.
