Safety workshops

Workplace Health and Safety Queensland offers FREE workshops covering a range of work health and safety topics.

Who should attend?

These workshops are designed to help small to medium businesses that have limited or no current health and safety processes in place. They are suitable for business owners, managers and supervisors with health and safety responsibilities and for workplace health and safety representatives or professionals.

These workshops are NOT SUITABLE for large organisations or those businesses with well developed safety management systems.

 

Basic safety management system workshop

This workshop introduces participants to a step-by-step process explaining the key elements of a safety management system. The workshop also provides participants with the tools, skills and knowledge to begin effectively managing health and safety in the workplace.

Risk management workshop

This workshop introduces participants to the steps involved in the risk management process. This session will discuss the principles and practices in each step and provide useful tools and techniques to help manage the risk from hazards at your workplace.

Safe work procedures workshop

Safe work procedures (SWP) can help you ensure your workers are aware of the risks and hazards at work. SWP also outline how to avoid injury or illness while working. This workshop goes through an easy and systematic process for writing safe work procedures.

Safe work method statements workshop (for high risk construction work)

Safe work method statements (SWMS) must be written for high risk construction work. SWMS can help you ensure your workers are aware of the risks and hazards in their work environment. SWMS also outline how to avoid injury or illness while working. This workshop goes through an easy and systematic process for writing safe work method statements.

Basic risk management for manual tasks workshop

This workshop is designed to introduce participants to the basics of identifying and managing the risks created in the workplace by manual tasks.

Incident and emergency response workshop

This workshop is designed to provide guidance to business operators about first aid, emergency planning, incident notification and investigations.

Hazardous chemicals workshop

This workshop is designed to introduce participants to the basics of managing the risks of hazardous chemicals at work.

Monitor and review workshop

This workshop will help businesses review existing policies and procedures, and develop an ongoing monitoring regime to manage work health and safety in the workplace. It builds on the information described in the 'Serious about Safe Business' package.
