Recreational Dive and Snorkelling Industry Reference Group recommendations open for public comment

Following consultation with the dive and snorkelling industry, the Queensland Government is proposing to adopt 12 recommendations made by the Recreational Dive and Snorkelling Industry Reference Group established by the Hon. Cameron Dick, Minister for Education and Industrial Relations.

The recommendations, if adopted, would require amendments to the Safety in Recreational Water Activities Act 2011 and Recreational Diving, Recreational Technical Diving and Snorkelling Code of Practice 2011.

The proposed changes are now open for public comment until 31 March 2012. Individuals and organisations are encouraged to have their say about the proposed recommendations for the recreational dive and snorkelling industry.

The proposed changes can be viewed in the Recreational Dive and Snorkelling Industry Reference Group Report to Minister (PDF, 267 kB).

Rural Plant Code of Practice 2004

Following consultation with the rural industry, unions and the community, the Queensland Government is proposing to amend the Rural Plant Code of Practice 2004 so that, amongst other matters:

The proposed changes are now open for public comment until 31 March 2012 so that individuals and organisations can have their say and to ensure all issues affecting Queensland’s rural industry are considered.

The proposed changes are highlighted in yellow (new content) and red (content to be removed) on pages 15-20 of this copy of the Rural Plant Code of Practice 2004 (PDF, 487 kB), which is preserved under the WHS Act 2011 from 1 January 2012.

To support the model Work Health and Safety Bill, Safe Work Australia released the model WHS Regulations and priority model codes of practice for public comment. (Closed: 4 April 2011)

Public comment on a further 15 draft model codes of practice closed on Friday 18 November and Friday 16 December 2011.
