Dive Safety Awards 2011
The Dive Safety Awards encourage recreational diving and snorkelling operators to review their diver rescue procedures and conduct regular rescue drills.
Entrants were required to film and submit a video displaying a rescue drill as a part of their normal safety practices. Videos provided were judged on the effectiveness and efficiency of the rescue and first aid procedures shown.
Winners will be announced at an awards presentation evening held in Cairns on 20 October.

It will be a casual evening to announce the winners of the Dive Safety Awards, present their awards, and play their winning rescue drill videos.
Also on the agenda will be:
- an industry update, including the Safety in Recreational Water Activities Act 2011 and Work Health and Safety Act 2011 due to commence on 1 January 2012
- a review of the recent injury and incident trends
- an update progress on new WHSQ initiatives highlighting health and safety considerations for tourists when snorkelling.
