Maleny Fresh Foods Pty Ltd

On 23 November 2004 an employee at the Maleny IGA Supermarket was standing on a ladder in the storeroom while another employee was passing him boxes to be stacked on a shelf. At some point the worker lost his grip and fell from the ladder to the ground below fracturing his right ankle.

s.24(1) and s.28(1) Workplace Health and Safety Act 1995

• Develop and implement an occupational health and safety management system (OHSMS).
• Implement a series of third party audits of the OHSMS, consistent with AS/NZ 4801:2001.
• Implement the recommendations resulting from the audits of the OHSMS.
• Conduct a series of OHS presentations to IGA Group Members throughout Queensland.
• Engage a consultant to deliver an OHS presentation at the National Conference of IGA Group Supermarkets.
• Train and maintain an additional Workplace Health and Safety Officer.
• Fund the purchase of necessary equipment for the Maleny Ambulance Committee.

The approximate value of the EU (including departmental recoverable costs) is $89,382.
