Who is not covered
The Workplace Health and Safety Act 1995 (PDF, 766 KB) does not apply to mines and quarries or land used for obtaining petroleum or used for geothermal exploration.
This Act does not affect:

- Public Safety Preservation Act 1986 (PDF, 428 KB)
- Radiation Safety Act 1999 (PDF, 790 KB)
- Transport Operations (Road Use Management) Act 1995 (PDF, 1.1 mB)
- Transport Operations (Marine Safety) Act 1994 (PDF, 746 KB).
People working in the electrical industry have an obligation to workplace health and safety under the Electrical Safety Act 2002 (PDF, 788 KB). In situations where the Workplace Health and Safety Act 1995 and the Electrical Safety Act 2002 both impose obligations, the obligation under the Electrical Safety Act 2002 takes precedence.
