Proposed removal of the rural industry exemption from the Workplace Health and Safety Regulation 1997

The Queensland Government called for public comment on a proposal to remove section 229 of the Workplace Health and Safety Regulation 1997, which exempts the rural industry from a number of workplace health and safety requirements regarding:

A Regulatory Impact Statement (RIS) outlining the impact of these changes and seeking public feedback was released in November 2007. Public comment closed on Friday 29 February 2008.

Consideration of issues raised

After the public comment period closes, the Government will consider issues raised by members of the community. Further consultation may occur to address any concerns raised by the community prior to the development of a final position by the Government.
