Remake of the Workplace Health and Safety Regulation 2008
The Workplace Health and Safety Regulation 1997 will expire on 1 September 2008. As a result, the Workplace Health and Safety Regulation 2008 is proposed to take its place. A Regulatory Impact Statement (RIS) has been prepared to explain the proposals.
This RIS is divided into two distinct parts, Section A outlines the Parts of the Regulation that are being reviewed and are open for comment. These are:
- Part 4: Workplace Health and Safety Officers
- Part 7: Injuries, Illnesses and Dangerous Events
- Part 12A: Conducting Recreational Snorkelling
Section B of the RIS outlines the Parts of the Regulation that are not being reviewed and the rationale for this.
A Regulatory Impact Statement (RIS) outlining the impact of these proposals and seeking public feedback was released in November 2007.
Public comment closed on Friday 29 February 2008.

Consideration of issues raised
After the public comment period closes, the Government will consider issues raised by members of the community. Further consultation may occur to address any concerns raised by the community prior to the development of a final position by the Government.
