Medium Sized Business Initiative kicks off on a high note

Workplace Health and Safety Queensland’s medium sized business initiative is already proving a success, with more than half of the medium sized businesses contacted registering for an advisory session.

The initiative, which for the first time will see every medium sized business in the state audited over their workplace health and safety, is being held in two stages.

The first stage, which started early last month, saw 75% of the advisory sessions booked out within the first week, with close to 2000 people registering to attend.

The free advisory sessions ensure businesses get to talk with workplace health and safety experts to get the workplaces in top shape BEFORE the audit is carried out. It helps spread the message of workplace safety, provides tips for employers and workers and ensures owners know exactly what Workplace Health and Safety Queensland will be auditing.

Under the initiative, any medium sized business – one with an annual payroll of $1 million to 10 million – will be audited, from Weipa to Wallangarra and Cairns to Coolangatta.
