New online workplace harassment information tool
Workplace Health and Safety Queensland has launched a new online workplace harassment information tool that provides information to users on the various options available to them to resolve harassment in the workplace.
What is workplace harassment?
'Workplace harassment' occurs if a person is subjected to repeated behaviour, other than behaviour amounting to sexual harassment, by a person, including the person's employer, a co-worker or group of co-workers of the person that:
- is unwelcome and unsolicited
- the person considers to be offensive, intimidating, humiliating or threatening
- a reasonable person would consider to be offensive, humiliating, intimidating or threatening.
How does the online workplace harassment information tool work?
- Provides detailed information on how to lodge a workplace harassment complaint with Workplace Health and Safety Queensland.
- Details information on workplace bullying and harassment including how to prevent and resolve workplace harassment complaints.
- Provides an opportunity for clients to validate the information provided by Workplace Health and Safety Queensland Infoline or regional offices in their own time.
- Provides comprehensive details regarding the role of Workplace Health and Safety Queensland in dealing with workplace harassment complaints.
- Provides contact details and information on the role other agencies play in dealing with workplace harassment, including the Anti-Discrimination Commission (ADCQ), Fair Work Australia, Workcover Queensland and the Queensland Workplace Rights Ombudsman.
- Provides information about Unions and organisations that can assist with advocacy.
- Provides links to associations that can refer users to specific service providers, e.g. Australian Psychological Society and the Australian Counselling Service.
- Provides contact details for organisations for users who need immediate assistance.
- Can be applied, adapted and used on other relevant agency websites.
- Is interactive and aligned with information provision expectations of younger workers.
- Enables users to navigate the Workplace Health and Safety Queensland website and provide user-friendly links to all the information on workplace bullying and harassment.
