Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ) held 21 free workshops in 13 locations statewide during March and April 2009 as part of a national campaign aimed to reduce injury rates from manual tasks in the road freight transport industry.

The half day workshops focused on preventing muscular and joint injuries particularly from loading and unloading vehicles and were aimed at owners, managers, supervisors, workplace health and safety officers and representatives, and health and safety professionals.

121 businesses were represented at the workshops, with almost 300 participants from regions including Bundaberg, Cairns, Gladstone, Ipswich, Logan, Lutwyche, Mackay, Mount Gravatt, Nambour, Robina, Rockhampton, Toowoomba and Townsville.

Positive feedback was received as participants were provided with skills to manage manual tasks risks in their workplace through practical examples and solutions for them to implement.
