2008 Work Safe Awards winners announced
The winners of the 2008 Queensland Work Safe Awards were announced during Safe Work Australia Week in October, recognising excellence in workplace health and safety.
Minister for Employment and Industrial Relations John Mickel congratulated all nominees for their commitment to keeping Queensland workplaces safe.
'The variety of the workplace health and safety innovations demonstrated was very impressive,' he said.
'Simply by entering, they have shown their commitment to making sure workers come home safely to family and friends at the end of each day,' he said.
The winners of the 2008 Queensland Work Safe Awards are:
- Best solution to an identified health and safety issue: J Smith and Sons Pty Ltd
- Best workplace health and safety practices in small business: Bailey Tanks Pty Ltd
- Best individual contribution to workplace health and safety: Noelene Lucjan
- Best solution to an identified electrical safety issue (Highly commended): Electrical and Communications Association
Noelene Lucjan, Bailey Tanks Pty Ltd and J Smith and Sons Pty Ltd are finalists in the National Safe Work Australia Awards. Winners will be announced on 28 April 2009.
