Risk management
There are five basic steps in the risk management process, as outlined in section 22 (2) of the Workplace Health and Safety Act 1995 (PDF, 766 KB). They include:
- Identifying hazards;
- Assessing risks that may result because of these hazards;
- Deciding on control measures to prevent or minimise the level of risks;
- Implementing control measures; and
- Monitoring and reviewing the effectiveness of control measures.
For more information on how to use the risk management approach to meet workplace health and safety obligations, please refer to the Workplace Health and Safety Risk Management Code of Practice 2007.
