Personal security in the retail industry

Retail workers who handle cash at their workplace are vulnerable to assault from people who may try to unlawfully gain access to money.

Employees must not be placed in a position in which their safety is compromised. Retail business owners and managers are responsible for ensuring that personal security measures are in place to protect their employees.

In order to understand the workplace health and safety requirements for personal security in the retail industry, and your obligations under the law you must consider and understand relevant legislation and codes of practice.
