Changes to existing paper-based certificates
Previously, licences for prescribed occupations were issued in the following formats:
- 'old style' paper based tickets (issued from 1950 to March 1992)
- plastic card licences issued since 1992
'Old style' paper based tickets ARE NOW INVALID
All 'old style' paper-based tickets which have not been converted to the new licence formats are now invalid. If you hold an 'old style' paper ticket, which you have not converted to the new format, you must do so before you can legally work in the occupation/s for which you hold paper tickets.
All paper tickets must be converted to the new licence types by 30 April 2010. Depending on the occupational class, most of the paper ticket classes will either convert to a plastic non-renewable certificate or a photographic and renewable licence.
You must make application (PDF, 167kB) to the department if you wish to retain your licence.
If you don't want to retain your licence, no further action from you is required.
Plastic card licences
If you have a plastic card licence, you will be contacted by mail if it needs to be changed to a renewable and photographic licence (see which licences are changing).
When you are contacted to transition your licence depends on the date of the last class added to the licence:
