Queensland Work Safe Awards 2009

The 2009 Queensland Work Safe Awards are a unique opportunity for all Queensland businesses to recognise their commitment to excellence in workplace health and safety. By entering you can win $1000 in prize money for your business to put towards a current or new health and safety initiative in your workplace

Free small and medium sized business workshops
Dates: August - December 2009
Location: Across the state
Workplace Health and Safety Queensland offers small to medium sized businesses free workshops designed to help improve workplace safety and productivity, while reducing workplace injuries and their associated costs.

Scaffolding Campaign 2009 - 2010
Dates: Compliance and audit inspections (August-September 2009), Education (January-February 2010), Compliance and audit inspections (April-May 2010)
Location: throughout Queensland
The campaign aims to increase the level of scaffold compliance in the construction industry through a coordinated national compliance campaign, aligned to the Australian Standard AS1576 - Scaffolding.

Free community services workshops
Dates: September - November 2009
Locations: Across Queensland
These free workshops will help providers who offer in-home assistance to improve workplace safety and productivity, while reducing workplace injuries and their associated costs.

Free workplace consultations for small businesses
Dates: Ongoing
Locations: Townsville, Mackay, Rockhampton, Nambour, Toowoomba, Logan, Brisbane and Southport
Available to Queensland businesses with fewer than 20 employees in specific sectors including: manufacturing, hospitality, retail and wholesale, transport and storage.

Safe Work Australia Week 2009
Dates: 25-31 October 2009
Locations: State-wide
During this national week, activities and events will be held across Queensland to encourage healthier and safer workplaces and workers.
