Queensland Health promotes Safe Work Australia Week

Queensland Health, through its Safety Practitioner Network, is hosting numerous promotions and activities across the State as part of Safe Work Australia Week 2009. Topics covered include: promoting healthier lifestyles, driver safety, Heart Foundation, oral health, nutrition, Quit Smoking, Doctor fatigue, manual/patient handling, employee assistance service, Occupational Health and Safety (i.e. providing the opportunity for staff to receive fire training). Queensland Health will also be organising a series of staff activities, these include: a computer-based scavenger hunt (i.e. finding safety resources within intranet webs sites); UV sun safety - skin damage, morning Tai Chi, cycle to work day and organised lunchtime walks. Throughout Safety Week, most if not all Hospitals and Queensland Health facilities will be highlighting Safe Work Australia Week and the importance of this year's theme of healthier and safer workplaces.
