Safe Work Australia Week reminds us of why coming home safely at the end of each day to your family, friends and loved ones is the most important reason for making your workplace safe. Workplace Health and Safety Queensland, in association with Australia Zoo, the Sunshine Coast Regional Council and Commerce Queensland, is hosting an industry breakfast with Dr John Tickell for Safe Work Australia Week. Dr Tickell is a medical doctor, an international speaker and television personality who has spent the last 25 years researching the health, well-being and longevity patterns of people around the world. Dr Tickell will deliver a presentation on how to put the ‘H’ back into ‘OHS’. Also joining Dr Tickell is Murray Munro from Wildlife Warriors Worldwide and Stephen Clark from Workplace Health and Safety Queensland. Your attendance includes admission, a ‘Feeding Frenzy Buffet Breakfast’, and the opportunity to tour the Wildlife Hospital with Wildlife Warriors Worldwide. As part of Safe Work Australia Week 2008, Workplace Health and Safety Queensland are offering free occupational stress risk management workshops. Stress is a term that is widely used in everyday life and most people have some idea of its meaning. Occupational (or work-related) stress is recognised globally as a major challenge to workers’ health, and the health of an organisation. This workshop aims to provide participants practical guidance and skill development in applying risk management principles to occupational stress. Topics covered include: what indicators to look out for at your workplace with regards to stress risk factors, how to determine if your workplace has a problem with stress, and practical actions your organisation can take to manage the risk of injury arising from workplace stressors. | |||

This workshop introduces the Serious about Safe Business pack which provides small and medium businesses with a simplified safety management framework. The systems learned in the workshop are a great way to ensure a safe workplace and increase staff productivity. Numbers will be kept to a maximum of 20 participants to ensure positive results and personal contact with the Small Business Advisor. This workshop includes a complimentary lunch at the Boathouse Restaurant overlooking the beautiful Noosa River. | |||
