The Australian Reinforcing Company
The Australian Reinforcing Company (ARC) process and distribute reinforcing steel to the construction industry.
Recognising the risks associated with top of truck safety, loading and unloading trucks and load containment, ARC formed a work group to develop and implement three key safety solutions.
Solution one: Load access multi-height platform and barrier system
The platforms and barriers ensured operators could safely access the top of trucks during loading and unloading at any vehicle height without the risk of falling. The platforms are now used at ARC sites nationally.
Solution two: Transi-flats and Mobicon System
The Transi-flat and Mobicon system enable loads to be assembled at ground height, eliminating the exposure to serious injuries associated with working from heights.
The material is loaded onto the transi-flat (container base) at ground level. The mobicon machine straddles the transi-flat and manoeuvres it onto the truck.
Solution three: Transi-barriers
ARC engineered transi-barriers to fit the side of transi-flats to enable semi-trailer side loaders to safely unload transi-flats at customer sites. The semi-trailer side loader accesses corner lifting points of the transi-barrier and the entire unit is lifted off the semi-trailer and placed on the ground.
The solution not only eliminates the need to access the top of the vehicle, it also provides a barrier system for load containment during loading and unloading and removes the need for partial load restraint when moving around sites.
ARC's safety solutions can be implemented across a variety of industries to significantly reduce work at height risks.
