Assessment and judging

There are separate judging panels for each of the award categories. The judging panels consist of representatives from business, industry, unions and the public sector. The panels will asses the nominations over a three-stage process involving the assessment of written submissions, on-site inspections of short-listed entries and selection of winning entries.

Inspection reports will be used by the judging panels to select the winning entries. On-site inspections of short-listed entries will be conducted by a Workplace Health and Safety Queensland inspector from the local area. If specialist/technical staff are required and not located in the local area, alternate arrangements will be made and may include video conferencing with specialist/technical staff and other audit processes.

The winners of the Queensland Work Safe Awards are automatically entered into the national awards run by the Commonwealth Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relationsí Office of the Australian Safety and Compensation Council.*

* Except winners of category five which is not part of the national awards.

To view the judging criteria for each category, see award categories.
