Informal learning record (logbook) for prescribed occupations

A written learning record must be completed by a trainee in a prescribed occupation.  The informal learning record (logbook) for prescribed occupations can be used by the trainee and supervisor to record the informal training and operational experience obtained in the workplace.

The learning record should be used whether the training is going to be provided by workplace trainers or by trainers associated with a Registered Training Organisation (RTO).

The learning record should progress the trainee through the training plan. The information recorded in the learning record will be used by the RTO as part of the determination of the trainee's readiness for an assessment, therefore entries should be legible, detailed enough to show the full experiences received and be able to be validated for authenticity by the RTO.

RTOs may issue their own learning record logbooks, which have been customised to meet legislative and course requirements.
