What is advanced rigging?
The scope of work for advanced rigging (and dogging) includes:
- movement of plant and equipment
- steel erection
- all hoists
- placement of pre -cast concrete
- safety nets and static lines
- mast climbers
- perimeter safety screens and shutters
- cantilevered crane loading platforms
- slinging and directing of loads
- rigging of cranes hoists, conveyors, dredges and excavators
- tilt-slabs
- demolition
- dual lifts
- rigging of gin poles and shear legs
- flying foxes and cableways
- guyed derricks and structures and
- suspended scaffolds and fabricated hung scaffolds
It is preferable that an applicant for the advanced rigging licence (certificate) already holds a basic and intermediate rigging licence or has previously passed a practical skills assessment for the basic and intermediate rigging licence.
Otherwise the assessment for an applicant for the advanced certificate must incorporate the requirements of dogging and the basic, intermediate and advanced assessment for rigging.
To be competent the person should be able to:
- Plan and prepare work
- Complete rigging work
- Demolish structures and/or plant
